Bijan Pesaran, Ph.D.

Bijan Pesaran completed his undergraduate degree in physics at the University of Cambridge in 1995. He spent a year in the theoretical physics department at Bell Labs in Murray Hill, NJ, before going on to earn his Ph.D. in physics at the California Institute of Technology in 2002. After completing his Ph.D., he served as a postdoctoral fellow in biology at California Technical Institute until 2005. He has been on the faculty at New York University since 2006, where he is currently associate professor of neural science in the Center for Neural Science. In 2013, he was a C.V. Starr Visiting Scholar at the Princeton Neuroscience Institute at Princeton University. Among other awards, he has received a Burroughs Wellcome Fund Career Award in the Biomedical Sciences, an Alfred P. Sloan Research Fellowship, a McKnight Scholar Award and the NSF CAREER award.
